Meet Jim Rutherford
My name is Jim Rutherford and I am Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland Area Sales Manager at Translift. I have been with the company since 1999, selling Bendi Forklifts and space-saving warehouse equipment.
I have represented Translift covering Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and parts of Northern England for more than two very enjoyable decades. As Bendis can be used in virtually any sector, I have learned so much in that time and met some amazing people on the way. I like to think I have taken a little bit of improved learning with me from them all.
My previous background was from Internal Sales through to External Sales Representation and into Sales Management. Initially, I was in Steel Stockholding for over a decade and then into Storage Equipment selling space-saving rack and storage solutions, before leading, of course, to the best space saver of them all!
Working at Translift has taught me that if you enjoy what you do, then every day is a joy and never a chore! It has also confirmed my belief that every client’s success is just as important as your own success.
We have educated so many people in the principles of the space-saving Bendi range through Bendi Driver Training Ltd and it’s genuinely rewarding to see customer companies, especially the people associated with them, mostly all be successful, become more aware and grow with Translift as their trusted partners.
Even today, it still amazes me and brings a smile to my face that I still regularly hear staff members, be it a Director, Manager, Forklift Operator or Health and Safety personnel, say “I’ve never seen one of these before?” Well, let me tell you…
My personal values and goals are very simple – they are to enjoy life, look after my family and spread a decent, truthful message wherever I go. After all, I’m just a nice guy and we can all do business with a smile and some humour.
I want to do a decent job working for a decent company and selling to decent people. When they all align, we create successful, enjoyable and rewarding partnerships!
Outside of work I enjoy all sports, but especially badminton, tennis, football and playing pool. I have also taken up golf seriously for the first time in my life! Even though I go on a golf trip abroad every year, my son said he wanted to take it up as well, so I have to improve as I can’t have him beating me, can I?
We regularly play on the weekend and it’s great to spend that time with him as he’s just started his own business, so we see him less frequently nowadays. My wife Brenda and I are also just about to become grandparents, so that will be fun too!
